From Failing Chimney to Properly Rebuilt

Project Type

Chimney Reconstruction

Location

Sandy Hook, Connecticut

Stone chimney reconstruction in Sandy Hook, Connecticut. The existing chimney showed severe deterioration at the top, including loose and displaced masonry, failed mortar joints, extensive weather exposure, and an inadequate crown condition.

New England Artisans coordinated full scaffold access, safely dismantled and rebuilt the affected upper masonry, restored the chimney profile, installed a continuous protective cap and screening, and completed the roof transition with new copper flashing.

The finished work preserves the character of the original stone chimney while correcting the conditions that allowed continued deterioration. This project reflects NEA’s ability to handle difficult masonry restoration and repair work as part of a coordinated residential renovation.

Before — deteriorated upper chimney masonry and failing crown condition

Access and setup — scaffold installed for safe chimney reconstruction.

Reconstruction — upper chimney masonry dismantled and rebuilt.
